Now after months of painstaking planning and market research, GarageFairy.com is opening its doors to a limited audience for its Beta launch.
Iva Paleckova, business investor and co-founder, explains the rationale behind the service: "When my husband and I married and moved into an apartment together, we had to put most of our stuff in storage or donate it to charity to make space in our new quarters. We realized there was a pressing need for a service that just took away the things we had no space for and gave us some money back, but it had to be super simple and easy to use." As a UT Business student, Iva and her tech savvy husband started Garage Fairy to help relieve others of the burden of their no longer needed worldly possessions.
Garage Fairy promises to completely handle the irksome tasks that prevent many potential sellers from monetizing their unused items - chores including photography, listing, shipping, communicating with buyers, accepting payments, and weeding out scams. Although the business is based in Austin, Garage Fairy plans to offer its services on a national scale.
Garage Fairy's Beta program allows selected customers to sample the service before it launches nationwide, and provides some perks to these first users in exchange for their honest feedback. Iva Paleckova says "We are inviting early adopters and innovators to try out our beta program and help us build the best possible user experience for our upcoming nationwide launch."
Beta testing is a critical stage of the business lifecycle, as it allows actual customers a "sneak peek" at the new business and it allows business managers a chance to evaluate metrics like customer satisfaction, unit economics, and bottlenecks in operations.
Paleckova iterated over the perks of joining the Beta program, "Our beta testers will receive significant discounts. We will waive shipping charges to our facilities, and our consignment fees will be reduced to only 10% of sales price per item. We plan to offer this program for a limited time period, until we feel we have built the best possible experience for our customers and solidified our operational efficiency for a nationwide launch."
