Farewells for 2 space crews and for Discovery

On its final voyage after nearly three decades, Discovery, the most traveled rocketship ever, will be retired following this week's return to Earth.

The hatches between Discovery and the International Space Station were sealed Sunday afternoon, setting the stage for the shuttle's departure first thing Monday.

"We're going to miss you," the space station's commander, Scott Kelly, told the six shuttle astronauts. "But most of all we're going to miss Discovery.

"Discovery has been a great ship and has really supported the International Space Station more so, I think, than any other space shuttle. We wish her fair winds and following seas."

Shuttle skipper Steven Lindsey nodded in agreement, then shook hands with Kelly. Lindsey noted that all the mission objectives had been accomplished: The new storage unit newsmatic.com">carried up by Discovery was installed and unloaded, leaving behind an empty, pristine compartment ready to serve its purpose.

Lead flight director Royce Renfrew radioed up congratulations to the two crews, before the hatches slammed shut. He said he was "really proud to take Discovery home at the very top of her game," and he credited the astronauts in large part. "You guys rock," he said.

Mission Control gave Discovery's astronauts two extra days at the orbiting outpost. They took advantage of the bonus time to empty the storage unit of all the gear that went up inside it. The bonus days stretched the entire mission to 13 days on top of the 352 days already logged during Discovery's previous 38 missions.

In their last hour together, the 12 astronauts amused themselves in the new 21-foot-long, 15-foot-wide storage compartment. Taking turns a few at a time, they performed somersaults in the center of the chamber, bounced off the walls, and floated through with outstretched arms like underwater swimmers.

The astronauts were having so much fun that Mission Control was sorry to interrupt. "I hate to ring the recess bell on you," Mission Control radioed, reminding the shuttle crew of one last job remaining before the hatches needed to be shut.

Immediately after undocking, Discovery will fly a victory lap of sorts around the orbiting lab, essentially for picture-taking. Then the shuttle astronauts will pull out an inspection boom and survey their ship for any signs of micrometeorite damage.

Landing is scheduled for Wednesday.

Aboard the space station, meanwhile, the crew hopes in the next week or two to unpack the humanoid robot that was left behind.

The robot, named R2 for Robonaut 2, is the first humanoid in space.

Mission Control, meanwhile, is monitoring a piece of space junk — an old rocket segment — that is threatening to come too close to the space station on Wednesday. Experts will assess the risk to the station following Discovery's undocking and determine whether the complex will have to move out of the way. The shuttle is not expected to be affected by the debris, officials said.

Only two other shuttle missions remain.

Endeavour is due to blast off April 19 with Kelly's identical twin brother Mark at the controls. Mark is married to Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, who is recuperating from a gunshot blast to the head.

Atlantis will close out the 30-year shuttle program with a launch at the end of June.

Macomb County Michigan Short Sale Help: What To Do If Your Lender Say's NO To Your Short Sale

PRLog (Press Release)– Mar 06, 2011– Here is a technique you can use to "strong arm" you're your lender on your short sale. The number one reason people short sale is to salvage their credit.

After all, a short sale has much less of an impact on your credit than a foreclosure. Despite all this, banks still make short sales tough.

How would you feel if you worked hard on a short sale only to watch it fall apart because you lender dragged their feet?

Discover how other sellers successfully did a short sale to avoid foreclosure by clicking here.

Later on the property sells for even less money than the short sale offer you had. I have said in earlier posts that, in my opinion, you could sue the lender for the damage caused to your credit by the foreclosure.

After all, the only reason the short sale wasn't successful was because they dragged their feet. Here is the technique you can use to strong arm the lender to accept the short sale.

Use your rights as a homeowner to get more information about the BPO. An inaccurate BPO is the number one reason short sales fail.

Getting your hands on a copy of the BPO will help your agent contest an inaccurate BPO. And it would be a big help in any future lawsuit. Here is the step by step strategy:

1. Request a complete itemized payoff from the foreclosing lawyer. In addition, request a copy from the lender themselves. You do this by faxing them a request. Usually you will get an answer in 7-10 business days.

2. Review the payoff to see where the BPO is itemized. If a BPO has ever been ordered, it will most likely by itemized on there. If not, it may be included in some other payoff cost. Get confirmation of that in writing from the lender.

3. Since the BPO is added onto the amount owed by the homeowner, they have a right to a copy under the Equal Credit Opportunity Act. Fax the lender's legal department a request for a copy of the BPO.

Send a copy of the payoff and circle the spot where you think the BPO payment is. Request a copy for the borrower under the Equal Credit Opportunity Act. In addition, also mail the lender's legal department the same request.

If the lender does not comply, then you can file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission at www.ftc.gov, The Office of Thrift Supervision at www.ots.treas.gov, the FDIC at www.FDIC.gov, and the Comptroller of the Currency at www.helpwithmybank.gov.

Indicate on your correspondence with the lender that if they do not comply, then you will be filing complaints with those agencies. Thinking about a short sale?

Austin-Based, Online Reseller, GarageFairy.com Announces Its Beta Release

PRLog (Press Release)– Mar 05, 2011– Garage Fairy is the only national online consignment service that attempts to sell any category of item sent by its customers. Now after months of painstaking planning and market research, GarageFairy.com is opening its doors to a limited audience for its Beta launch.

Iva Paleckova, business investor and co-founder, explains the rationale behind the service: "When my husband and I married and moved into an apartment together, we had to put most of our stuff in storage or donate it to charity to make space in our new quarters. We realized there was a pressing need for a service that just took away the things we had no space for and gave us some money back, but it had to be super simple and easy to use." As a UT Business student, Iva and her tech savvy husband started Garage Fairy to help relieve others of the burden of their no longer needed worldly possessions.

Garage Fairy promises to completely handle the irksome tasks that prevent many potential sellers from monetizing their unused items - chores including photography, listing, shipping, communicating with buyers, accepting payments, and weeding out scams. Although the business is based in Austin, Garage Fairy plans to offer its services on a national scale.

Garage Fairy's Beta program allows selected customers to sample the service before it launches nationwide, and provides some perks to these first users in exchange for their honest feedback. Iva Paleckova says "We are inviting early adopters and innovators to try out our beta program and help us build the best possible user experience for our upcoming nationwide launch."

Beta testing is a critical stage of the business lifecycle, as it allows actual customers a "sneak peek" at the new business and it allows business managers a chance to evaluate metrics like customer satisfaction, unit economics, and bottlenecks in operations.

Paleckova iterated over the perks of joining the Beta program, "Our beta testers will receive significant discounts. We will waive shipping charges to our facilities, and our consignment fees will be reduced to only 10% of sales price per item. We plan to offer this program for a limited time period, until we feel we have built the best possible experience for our customers and solidified our operational efficiency for a nationwide launch."

About Garage Fairy

Garage Fairy began as the idea of two newlyweds and developed during a class project at the UT Business school. Garage Fairy is the only full service national consignment business that will accept any valuable item from customers and attempt to get the best price possible on the market. Garage Fairy will be competing in the Venture Labs Investment Competition in February for recognition as a leading startup business prospect.
